LITTLE LEMBEH

(16-09-09) We imagine exotic places where discovering the most amazing sea creatures, and we often are closer to it than what we think. In the Bay of Sardina, Gran Canaria, we discover an incredible underwater world.

Sardina Bay

In our beloved fortunate islands there are fabulous dive sites that have nothing to envy too many remote places. It is very close to home and available. It is a shame the general lack of the Canary Islands as a diving destination. Even if you have very few free days, you can plan a quick getaway to enjoy diving without money problems. You'll get a nice surprise!

In this article we dive in Sardina, in Galdar -Gran Canaria- an attractive destination for many reasons, one of them is what they call “the golden mile” or “little Lembeh”.

Sardina Bay

Sardina is the ideal place to spend some wonderful days diving: easy dives, good visibility, water at 23 º C easily accessible from the dock of the small harbour and, above all, much and varied marine life.

It is a paradise for the underwater photographer, an ideal place for those who are beginning to dive or those who have little experience in diving; and, above all, it fits the definition of “scuba diving” and has no problems with depth, streams, dangerous sea, crowds, etc...

Sardina Bay

It cannot be said that there are dive sites themselves. There, people have named the different areas of the Bay: “veril de los bocinegros”, “the lighthouse”, “the golden mile”… All these points in the bay are not far from the port, but it is such a large area that enables us to make several dives with different perceptions of the place.

WHAT CAN WE SEE?

From big to tiny, in a clear sandy bottom, Sardina has a great diversity of life, many different species that we can see in one dive..

Sardina Bay

Angel sharks, stingrays, sea eagles, even manta rays! This summer there have been several sightings of manta rays shallow, and in some cases they have been more than half an hour running around in the area without being frightened by divers.

Breams, boga fish, bocinegro fish, groupers, black seabreams, cuttlefish, scorpion fish, sea horses, garden eels, snake eels, frogfish ... A series of small creatures that we expect to find in exotic and distant places, are awaiting us in Sardina.

Sardina Bay

The night dives are spectacular. As they are easy, it is also a good place for those who want to dive at night for the first time: there is no risk and, at the same time, it is amazing how many species we can see at night..

Diversity of life inside a beautiful environment, quaint as the bay and friendly as their people. Great life, for all tastes, for all eyes. And everything in front of the little port of Sardina; in five minutes we will be surrounded by all the wonders of this little bay..
