(PR / 07/02-11) The tourism office of El Cabildo in El Hierro will participate in the International Diving Trade Fair in Madrid, the Dive Travel Show, on March 5 and 6, to promote the island as a first level diving destination.
Like in previous years, El Hierro has decided to bet on this sort of fairs aimed targeted to potential tourists related to nature and adventure. In this fair about diving, which will be hold in the Centro de Convenciones de la Casa de Campo de Madrid, they are going to have own stand.
For the last two decades the island has been promoted like one of the best places in the world for diving underwater activities with the international open in underwater photography, the Open Fotosub Isla de El Hierro, and the special conditions of their bottoms thanks to high temperatures, great biodiversity and clear waters.
This time, to the expectation of other times, it is added the bad fortune Egypt is having now regarding tourism due to the socio-political circumstances they are living, which make the Red Sea a little safe destination for 2011.
“In Madrid, like in every promotional campaign this year, we would like to remind that El Hierro is the main diving destination in Europe resides the safest. Our waters never disappoint, with tropical and Mediterranean species and the spectacular volcanic bottoms of the island” says the Tourism minister of the region.
In fact, diving companies in La Restinga have said that, because of the situation in Egypt ant Tunisia, they are having more applications to dive in the are and that, especially to Holy Week, the season looks optimistic, something that El Hierro does not want to waste.
“The technicians of the Regional Government are working these days on meetings and coordination meetings both with tour operators and travel agencies related with diving in Europe, and we are designing new promotional material, mainly audiovisual, to reinforce the destination” says Margarita González.
The last year, El Hierro presented the diving guide of the South Area of El Hierro to the diving sector in this fair, with 20 dive sites.
Dive Travel Show 2011 has grown regarding previous years, and more thatn 2,000 square km have been dedicated to house more than 160 exhibitors that have already confirmed their presence in the emerging dive fair celebrated in Spain and which is a reference point for professionals and amateurs in the diving world.
