(PR / 15-02-11) Pierre-Yves Cousteau, son of the legendary French explorer and oceanographer Jacques Cousteau, lands on Spain to recruit an army of volunteers to join a new and ambitious ecologist project from the Cousteau Society.
Dive Travel Show will be the international platform from where Cousteau Divers program will be launched and presented to the world. This project expects to create a net of “sea watchers” that will cover all the seas and oceans from the planet, using an innovative investigation program that will convert divers as the key of the program.
Pierre-Yves, who has taken over the fight to defend the marine environment where his father left it, has elaborated, along with expert biologists and oceanographers, a method to evaluate the state of our seas.
Recreational divers and Dive Centers will be able to join the project, receiving a brief training that will allow them to interpret the measurement tables that they will use during their divers to write down all relevant information that can help us understand the impact of the human being on the seas.
Through www.cousteaudivers.com (that will become active after the project presentation at the DTS) and the annual congress in the Dive Travel Show, Cousteau Society will start leading this army of detectives. Besides, they will monitor real-time seabed, will control and research biodiversity in oceans and divers will participate in expeditions that Cousteau Divers organize aboard the Alcyone, the Cousteau Society's flagship.
